Job Summary:

Responsible for vetting, onboarding, training, and insuring compliance with Contractors for pickup and delivery (P&D) as well as Line Haul operations. Provides support for management staff and achieving results indirectly through Contractors in servicing customers. Works closely with management, customer service, and claims department to ensure successful customer-facing results and facilitate resolution of issues pertaining to contractors. This position requires 30 to 60% of travel time. The ideal candidate will have an open schedule to meet the expectations of this position, shift start times may vary due to specific operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information.

  • Ability to motivate a team to perform at the highest level by inspiring a shared vision and empowering them to act.
  • Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.
  • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications required.
  • Ability to communicate, train, and effectively implement contractor agreements as well as enforce agreement in collaboration with field personnel/management.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and support the day-to-day operations of the P&D and line haul operations with contractor resources.
  • Analyzes territory data to identify trends and issues to communicate with field operations in addressing with Contractors.
  • Manages the company's contractual relationships with Contractors, including conducting and documenting business discussions, conducting forums, and ensuring the company's compliance with the applicable agreement.
  • Advises senior management on decisions to initiate and/or terminate operating agreements.
  • Ensures compliance to Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements including but not limited to the accurate completion of unit history files, driver, non-driver, temporary and entity files.
  • Ensures compliance with Company policy and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Communicates and discusses contractual changes and issues with Authorized Officers or Business Contacts of the Contractors.
  • Holds Contractor accountable to the terms and conditions of the applicable agreement. Identify potential issues in preemptively mitigating risk for the company.
  • Facilitate and resolve claims or damages related to contractor involvement in servicing their territory. Conduct investigations as it relates to contractor issues with customer or field operations.
  • Participates in the training and development of field personnel/management in the administration of the contractor agreement, including maintaining the confidentiality of such material and matters.
  • Conducts periodic compliance audits as it related to the contractor agreement, federal, state, and local regulations as well as customer requirements.
  • Operational needs may periodically require work on weekends as necessary.
  • Specialist should be able to read, interpret, and have a thorough understanding of our operating agreement.

Minimum Education:

  • AA degree required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or a related area preferred, or 4+ years of Transportation Management in lieu of degree.

Minimum Experience:

  • Four (4) years management experience or operational leadership experience required; or Four (4) years' experience with Contractor Relations. A combination of one (2) year management with one (2) year Contractor Relations experience will also be accepted.
