• Reads manifests or follows oral instructions to ascertain freight to be moved. Opens trailers.
• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets by hand.
• Loads materials into vehicles and installs bracing, rope, or dunnage to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Counts, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on control copy and manifest.
• Loads truck for local drivers.
• Lifts heavy objects by hand or with pallet jacks or hand trucks and cleans work area.
• Shovels loose materials such as absorbent to clean up liquid spills into containers such as barrels.
• Operates forklift (after being certified) to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
